From our President

Welcome to the Fort Bend Junior Service League website! I hope that you will take a few minutes to browse through our website to learn more about what we do and to see the various ways in which our members are engaged in serving our community.

It is a true privilege to lead this amazing group of women as we begin our eleventh year of "Making a Difference" in the Fort Bend community. I am honored to serve alongside such talented, caring and dedicated women who embrace the opportunity to serve and who so generously volunteer their time and talents to impact the lives of others.

Founded in 2001, the League has experienced tremendous growth and change during its first ten years in existence. During that time, the League has grown from twenty-four charter members to over 250 adult members. The Fort Bend Teen Service League, a mentoring project devoted to fostering a sense of community responsibility and developing leadership skills in young women, was created and is now comprised of more than 100 members. Our Sustaining members are actively engaged in supporting the efforts of the League and other community organizations through a variety of service projects. Our direct service efforts have expanded to include eight core placement agencies. During the League's first year, FBJSL hosted its first two events, Sugar Plum Market and Sterling Ball, and raised a total of $35,500; to date, the League has hosted numerous events and projects, raising a cumulative total of $1.8 million for local charities.

These accomplishments are made possible through the efforts of our dedicated members, who will donate more than 20,000 hours in service to our community this year. Throughout the year, our members may be found volunteering at one of eight core placement agencies, devoting their time to one of our fundraising projects or other committees, mentoring young women or participating in a "Difference in a Day" project.

In addition to our members, the League is supported by a generous group of community partners, including corporate and individual donors, local businesses, event patrons, local media, non-profit organizations and many others who graciously support our endeavors so that we can continue to make a positive impact in our community.

Thank you for your interest in FBJSL! I look forward to seeing what the League will accomplish during the next ten years and I invite you to support our efforts in "Making a Difference" in our community.

Sincerely,

Catherine Kubala
FBJSL President
2011-2012
